Chelsea kicked off their Women’s UEFA Champions League matches today with a 5nil away win against Benfica with goals coming from Fran Kirby who bagged a brace while Bethany England and Pernille Harder also scored.
First Half Report Benfica 0-4 Chelsea Women:
The first half was filled with loads of goals from the English side who took the lead as early as the second minutes when Fran Kirby scored the opener to make it 1-0 in favour of the visitors.
Chelsea Women doubled their lead in the 29th minute thanks to goal from Millie Bright who made it 2-0 before Fran Kirby got her brace to make it 3-0 in the 33rd minute of the encounter between the two teams.
Benfica couldn’t do anything the stop the Blues from scoring as Pernille Harder made it 4-0 after her outstanding goal in the 45th minute of the encounter which was basically one sided affair.
The first half ended with 0-4 as the Blues cruise into the break with a comfortable huge lead after an outstanding display from the London Club.
Second Half Report Benfica 0-1 Chelsea Women:
The second half didn’t provide much entertainment as the goals wasn’t more than the one that was scored by the visitors while the home team got a player sent off for an offense.
Bethany England 54th minute goal gave Chelsea a 5-0 lead after the fantastic England International raced through and converted past the goalkeeper to extend the lead further.
Benfica Women were wasteful and couldn’t make anything happen as Christy Ucheibe was sent off after a second yellow was shown to her for a foul committed in the 75th minute.
The match ended with a 0-5 result which the London club take home as they prepare for the Women’s UEFA Champions League second leg which will take place in England.
