Bethany England hit a brace while Sam Kerr scored one as Chelsea finish off Benfica 3-0 to make it 8nil on aggregate to book their round of 16 tickets in the Women’s UEFA Champions League round of 32 which took place tonight.
First Half Report Chelsea 1-0 Benfica Women’s UEFA Champions League:
The first half wasn’t too good but the Blues Ladies was able to score one goal as they dominated the game while their opponent had nothing to offer going forward.
Benfica had a decent start to the first half as they were able to make they don’t concede early while the pressure was very much of them from their opponent who had nothing to spare.
Bethany England gave Chelsea the lead in the 28th minute after breaking free to score the opener of the 2nd leg tie with the Blues taking a 1-0 lead as the game progressed further.
The first half came to an end as the home side took an important 1-0 lead heading into the break after an entertaining first 45 minutes game.
Second Half Report Chelsea 2-0 Benfica Women’s UEFA Champions League:
The second half was much better as more chances and goals were scored by the dominant side who had much of the ball going forward and Attacking.
Chelsea doubled their lead through a goal from Samantha Kerr who dispatched the ball neatly past the away side goalkeeper in the 65th minute to make it 2-0 from a nice build-up.
Benfica still couldn’t get a grip of the game as things weren’t going in their favor despite all their efforts to get something away from home after the heavy 5nil defeat in the first leg.
Bethany England grabbed her brace with a late goal as the match ended 3-0 with an aggregate result of 8-0 which sees the English side booked their round of 16 ticket in the competition.
