Community Mismanaged 37% Of KWCSDA Project’s Contract Sum – ENetSuD

Elites Network for Sustainable Development (ENetSuD), a Kwara-based Civil Society Organization known for its #FollowKwaraMoney activities.

Recently revealed that about 37% of the contract sum for road and electricity projects in Akorede community (off Akerebiata road in Ilorin East LGA of Kwara state) executed towards the end of 2019 was mismanaged.

The projects were co-funded by the community (10%) and the Kwara State Community and Social Development Agency (KWCSDA, 90%).

The approved length of the road in the Bill of Engineering Measurement and Evaluation (BEME), upon which the payment was made to the community by KWCSDA, was 890 meters.

However, re-measurement and re-evaluation by ENetSuD revealed that the actual length of the road is 518.9 meters, which is 371.1 meters less than what was approved by KWCSDA.

Thorough estimation by ENetSuD revealed that the worth of the executed works (base-level road, drainage and electricity) in the community is ₦5,760,142 instead of the ₦9,164,050 Approved by KWCSDA.

How the remaining balance of ₦3,403,908 was spent by the community is not understood and needs further questioning by the appropriate authorities.

In order to give the community members a fair hearing, ENetSuD held a stakeholders’ meeting with them on Sunday 1st November 2020.

Where about 30 copies of our evaluation report were shared to them after thorough deliberation.

As at the time of writing this Report, the community is yet to make a counter-response to Enetsud.
