Raheem Sterling scored the only goal as England opened their Euros2020 encounter with a narrow 1-0 victory against Croatia in the group stages match.
First Half Report England 0-0 Croatia
Both teams were good in the first half of the encounter which a few amounts of opportunities came for the two teams which they couldn’t make good use of it despite the three lions going closest.
England had their opponent tiptoed as Phil Foden almost scored an early goal which unfortunately couldn’t hit the target with the woodwork denying the youngster from scoring the opening goal of the game.
Croatia was second best and couldn’t offer so much going forward as all their attempts to make something happen proved to be a waste thanks to a good defensive side which denied them every entry as it progressed.
Nothing could separate the two teams who had so much to do going forward but they just couldn’t finish off and make it count when they could have easily done that and move on into the break with something good.
The first half finally came to an end with England being held to a goalless draw against Croatia who was good at making sure they don’t concede despite all the pressure on them in the 45 minutes.
Second Half Report England 1-0 Croatia
Nothing to separate them as the second half kicked off with some promising display in the first few minutes which saw both teams increasing the pace and quality of play.
Croatia continued to push back hitting the Three Lions hard as the ball possession shifted a little bit which saw the away side going close on multiple occasions to score but failed.
England finally broke the deadlock 57th minutes after an amazing fast buildup of play saw Kevin Phillips throwing a through pass for Raheem Sterling to finish off with a 1-0 lead in the game.
The match carried on with both sides going after each other with attack for the attack as Phil Foden was taken off and Marcus Rashford brought in to replace the Manchester City man.
The encounter pace slowed down a bit as they entered into the last few minutes and it ended with England claiming a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Croatia to move top of the group table.
