There is so many much to say about this lovely mother who is tagged Africa’s Queen of Music as she have break many boundaries for herself, Nigeria and African music at large and indeed she deserves the name Africa’s Queen of Music.
Tiwatope Savage Porpularly known as Tiwa Savage was born in ikeja Lagos them know as Capital of Nigeria, and she and her family relocate to London when Tiwa was age 11 and she did all her schooling in London, getting a degree in business administration from University of Kent.
Tiwa Savage graduated from Barklee College Of Music with a degree in professional music.
She worked for the Royal Bank of Scotland before she later quit to pursue her music career by first singing as a backup for George Michael and not only him but also so many big names like Kelly Clarkson, Mary Jane Blige, Emma Bunton Amongst many others.
She is a Nigerian singer signed and due to her great talent she is signed to multiple record labels both home and abroad, such as 323 Music, Sony Universal Music, Motown Records, Capital and Island.
She currently signed a songwriting deal to Sony/ATV Music Publishing and also management and publishing deal with Jay Z’s Rock Nation since 2016 till date.
She have wrote songs for so many top American singers such as Mya, Monica, Fantasia, Kat Daluna and Babyface. She has received songwriting credits for her contribution to Monica’s soul-tinged ballad ” Catch Me”.
Moreover, her collaboration with Fantasia on the song “Collard Greens & Cornbread” earned the American recording artist a Grammy nomination in 2010. Savage wrote Jaicko ‘s “Oh Yeah” featuring Snoop Dogg, and Kat Deluna ‘s “Push Push” featuring Akon and disc jockey David Guetta.
Tiwa Savage have performed on big stages with numerous big names in the industry both home and abroad with names like 50 cent, Sting,The Black Eyed Peas , Eminem and Destiny’s Child amongst others.
In July 2019, Savage was featured on “Keys to the Kingdom”, a track she co-wrote for Beyoncé’s soundtrack album “The Lion King(The Gift)” alongside other Nigerian singer such as Mr Eazi, Yemi Alade, Tekno, Burna Boy and Wizkid.
Her new single “49-99” which serves as her first song for new record label Motown Records and the song references the line “49 sitting, 99 standing” inside a bus from Fela 1978 hit song “Shuffering and Smiling”.
She Described the song as a blend of Afrobeat , R&B and pop , “49-99” features syncopated percussions, humming background harmonies and crisp snares which makes the song a timeless classic.
What more can we say about this phenomenon singer who have been nominated for so many awards all over the world and also winning so many of them which makes her one of the greatest music exploit from Nigeria and Africa at large.
