Merseyside set up an FA Cup 5th round tie against Chelsea after scrapping through a 1-0 win over lower league side Shrewsbury in a match which saw the away side goal ruled out for offside before an own goal by Williams.

Shrewsbury had return from 2-0 all the way down to force a fourth-round replay where kick-off was delayed by 15 minutes once fans of both clubs were trapped in delays following an accident on the M62.
