Goals from Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell ensured Chelsea beat Porto 2-0 away from home in the Quarter final of the UEFA Champions League to claim a massive first leg advantage.
First Half Report Porto 0-1 Chelsea
It was an evenly balance first half encounter which saw the two sides showing class and controlling the amount with one goal scored by the Blues who made sure their one opportunity count.
Porto were the better side in the early stages of the first 45 minutes as they dominated play and created more opportunities than their opponent who couldn’t get a grip of the game as they almost conceded a goal.
Mason Mount outstanding finish in the 32nd minute after a nice buildup play saw Jorginho sending a pass to the England man who made it 1-0 after smashing the ball neatly past the goalkeeper by the side.
The first half progressed without any goal as the Blues dominated play and make life difficult for the home team who also did manage to hold their ground and also went forward on many occasions but nothing good.
The refereed called it over in the first half as it ended with Porto 0-1 Chelsea which saw the two teams heading for the break with the advantage going the way of Thomas Tuchel’s side who were the better of the two.
Second Half Report Porto 0-1 Chelsea
The second half kicked off with more pace which saw the away side bossing play with more possession going their way as they tried to see off the Portuguese side who weren’t able to come back.
Chelsea had some close opportunities which could have made it 2-0 but the finishing wasn’t good enough with the home side almost making it count but Edouard Mendy was able to pull out a stunning save to deny them.
The game continued with a shout for a penalty in the encounter after Cesar Azpilicueta fouled a Porto player which the referee overlooked and didn’t award as it led to the home side manager being shown a yellow card.
Ben Chilwell doubled the lead for his side after he was able to score a spectacular goal in the 85th minute to make it 2-0 which came as a result of an error which he took advantage and scored.
The match came to an end with Porto 0-2 Chelsea as Thomas Tuchel’s side claimed a massive first leg victory away from home in the UEFA Champions League quarter final encounter which was a good one.
