Olivier Giroud scored a late winner as Chelsea beat Rennes away from home 2-1 in the UEFA Champions League after Callum Hudson-Odoi first half goal scored.
First Half Report Rennes 0-1 Chelsea:
The first 45 minutes of the half was all about the Blues controlling things and also scored one goal which was brilliant from them.
Rennes did well as they were able to hold off early pressure from the London Club who created few chances which Timo Werner missed one.
Chelsea took the lead in the 22nd minute after Mason Mount lunched in a long pass which Callum Hudson-Odoi converted to make it 1-0 for the away side.
The first half progressed without another goal as it ended with Rennes 0-1 Chelsea as they both headed for the much needed break.
Second Half Report Rennes 1-1 Chelsea:
The home side took control much of the second half as they controlled the ball possession and created so many chances in the game.
Chelsea was lucky not to have conceded due to the packed pressure from the French Club who were dangerous but failed to find the back of the net.
Rennes continued with creating numerous opportunities as they control possession but Edouard Mendy was too good to falter as he was outstanding with his saves.
Sehrou Guirassy scored a header to level things 1-1 in the 85th minute but Olivier Giroud was able to score a late goal which made it 2-1.
The match ended with a 2-1 win as Frank Lampard side booked their ticket to the next round of the UEFA Champions League.
